“I always go by the adage, things happen in their time, not ours, and that has always been the case for me.” — Hilary Swank

Swank, 52, said those words on social media in October 2026, in a reply to a follower after she announced she was expecting her third child. She shared the news on Wednesday, October 14, 2026, in an Instagram video showing her family dancing in the dark with glow sticks taped to their bodies. As her husband, Philip Schneider, and their 3-year-old twins, Aya and Ohm, danced, Swank turned to reveal a tiny glow-stick baby on her belly.

She framed it as a career tease. “A lot of people have been asking what project I’m doing next; this one releases in December,” she wrote, a hint she’s due this winter.

The exchange that drew her out happened in the comments. “At 39 im still single and childless. You are literally giving me hope that the life I want could still happen for me,” one of her 1.6 million followers wrote. Swank replied, “Thank you! It can!” before adding the line about trusting that things happen in their time.

Swank first became a mother when she welcomed the twins in April 2023. She’s spoken about having children later in life, telling PEOPLE in a May 20, 2026, interview that she felt in a “really blessed position” to spend time with them exactly how she wants. “It just worked out that I had babies this much later in life. It wasn’t that I didn’t want them earlier. There were a lot of things that kept that from happening, and so I can really take time to be with them.”

In 2000 she took home the Academy Award for Best Actress for “Boys Don’t Cry,” then won it again for “Million Dollar Baby,” which took the prize at the 77th Academy Awards on February 27, 2005. She described that stretch as giving her younger years to a career that was “such a baby of mine.”
