Denise Richards still wants to fall in love again, but she’s ruled out another marriage as her divorce from Aaron Phypers continues. Speaking on Jenny McCarthy’s podcast on Tuesday, October 13, 2026, the 55-year-old actress said, “I don’t want that piece of paper.”

Richards married Phypers, 54, in 2018. He filed for divorce in July 2025, and she said the legal battle has changed how she understands their relationship. She now believes he saw her as “a product” and their union as “a business arrangement.”

Richards has accused Phypers of physical abuse, which he denies. In November 2025, she was granted a 5-year restraining order against him in Los Angeles Superior Court. She testified that his alleged violence had left her with “at least three concussions.”

Their financial disputes have continued, too. In September, Phypers was ordered to pay Richards more than $25,000 in sanctions. She said she hopes eventually to let go of her hatred toward him because she doesn’t consider it healthy.

Her first marriage, to Charlie Sheen, lasted from 2002 until their divorce was finalized in 2006. They share daughters Sami, 22, and Lola, 21.

Richards filed for divorce while pregnant with Lola and later described the marriage as “very toxic.” Reflecting on both marriages, she joked, “I’m 0 for 2.”

She remains open to a relationship: “I would have a partner, and I want to fall in love again, so I don’t want to be bitter…”
