In an interview with Saga Magazine reported on 20 October 2026, Michael Sheen said he has given away most of his fortune. Looking back on his relationship with money, the actor said: “I’ve been very lucky that I’ve been able to earn a lot of money, but either on purpose or accidentally, I’ve ended up giving pretty much all of it away.” He once used £100,000 of his own money to anonymously clear strangers’ debts, and he sold homes to finance a project helping homeless people.

At 57, Sheen has described himself as not-for-profit.

He traces that outlook to being 18, when he says he wasn’t living in poverty but was content to get by on what he had. He’s since returned to living in Wales and doing more theatre, and says his interest in material things has stayed much the same.

The father of 3 still puts his family’s security first: “I want to make sure my family are all right and we’ve got a roof over our heads and all the rest of it, but I do feel the same way at 57 as I did at 18 about this.”
