Carrot Top is thanking fans for helping him through his recovery as he prepares to return to the Luxor Hotel and Casino stage in Las Vegas on October 19.
Carrot Top said, “Every message, text, and kind thought has meant more to me than you know.”
The 61-year-old comedian, whose real name is Scott Thompson, spent 8 days in the hospital after a reported suicide attempt on September 18.
“I’m truly overwhelmed by the outpouring of love, support, prayers, and well wishes I’ve received over the past couple of weeks,” he wrote on Instagram.

He said he hadn’t been able to reply to everyone personally, but wanted those who’d reached out to know their support had reached him. “Thank you for being there for me during this time. It truly means the world to me!”
His attorney, Ronnie Bitman, stated in a court filing that Thompson had been admitted to the hospital that day after what Bitman described as “a suicide attempt.”
His representative had described that support’s role in his recovery in an update 3 days after his hospitalization. At that point, Thompson was awake, breathing without assistance and improving under close medical care, with family and loved ones around him.
The spokesperson said he was sharing moments of humor with the medical staff caring for him. Fans’ messages were also being passed along, including accounts of how his comedy had helped them through difficult times in their own lives.
“Hearing those stories and feeling that support has meant a great deal to him during his recovery,” his representative said. “Scott and his family remain deeply grateful for the extraordinary kindness and continue to ask that his privacy be respected.”
