Stephen Graham finally told Hannah he loved her at New Cross Station, with her move to Spain just 2 days away. Her answer: “I’ve been waiting five years for you to say that”. She stayed, and they moved in together within 3 days.

The Adolescence actor, 53, recalled how close they came to parting on the Table Manners podcast, in an episode released on Oct. 7, 2026 according to the podcast’s page on Acast. He said he was 20 and Hannah was 19 during their early relationship, describing himself as having commitment issues. For 5 years, they were “friends with benefits” and never went on a proper date.

During a stay in Spain, Hannah met a man named Paco. When she returned, she told Graham she planned to move there to be with him. He asked why, and recalled her reply: “Well there’s nothing here is there really”.

That prompted him to ask her on their first date. They saw Saving Private Ryan, ate at a restaurant across the road and ended up at New Cross Station, where he made his confession before her planned departure.

Graham and Hannah have now been together for 33 years. They married in 2008 and have 2 children, Grace, 21, and Alfie, 19.
