Reba McEntire remembers Dolly Parton’s faith as something she shared through both her music and her conversations. Paying tribute after Parton’s death in August at 80, McEntire described a woman whose beliefs were as open as her personality.

“She was also honest about her beliefs. She wasn’t ashamed, embarrassed to talk about her faith, and she sang about it, she talked about it, and she was eager to share her belief,” McEntire said.
The 2 appeared together on McEntire’s sitcom Reba in 2005. McEntire said Parton showed the same respect to people regardless of their job or standing, and that the person people encountered was who she really was.
“She was honest to a fault and she didn’t pretend to be anything else,” McEntire said.
