When Paul Hollywood described a cookie as indulgent and naughty during Biscuit Week on The Great British Bake Off, Nigella Lawson objected to attaching guilt to eating. “I don’t approve of talking about food as naughty,” she told him, before defending the pleasure food can offer.
Lawson explained on This Morning that seeking pleasure shapes her approach to life, including her judging. Enjoyment guides her assessments beside Hollywood’s technical expertise.

Hollywood has said their tastes sometimes differ, while their underlying standards agree. Fellow presenter Noel Fielding described their exchanges as sparky and said they eventually reach agreement.
Her emphasis on enjoyment still leaves room for criticism. During Pastry Week on October 27, Lawson praised Moyin’s pastry but found Mo’s pie too “gungy.”
The episode also tasked the bakers with making her Polish karpatka for the technical challenge.
