Adam Driver has ruled out playing Adam Sackler again in HBO’s 5-episode Girls revival, which is set to film in 2027. Asked whether he’d take part, Driver said: “No, but I wish them the best of luck.”

His former castmates Lena Dunham, Allison Williams, Jemima Kirke, Zosia Mamet and Andrew Rannells are returning. He played the boyfriend of Dunham’s character, Hannah Horvath, in the original series.

Girls followed a group of friends navigating their 20s in New York City and ended after 6 seasons. The revival brings Williams back as Marnie Michaels, Kirke as Jessa Johansson, Mamet as Shoshanna Shapiro and Rannells as Elijah Krantz.
Driver’s decision follows Dunham’s account of their relationship in her memoir, Famesick. She wrote: “He could be short-tempered and verbally aggressive, condescending and physically imposing. He could also be protective, loving even.” Driver’s brief answer didn’t give a reason for staying away.
Dunham said the idea for revisiting the characters came to her in the shower around her 40th birthday. “We always said we would only return to Girls if there was a specific story we were burning to tell,” she said.
