Blake Lively never texted Taylor Swift “I need you to lie.” That line came from Popcorned Planet commentator Andy Signore during a November 5, 2026 interview about Lively and Swift. The April 2023 messages he was describing contain a request for Swift’s help with Justin Baldoni, including praise for script pages, but that sentence appears nowhere in the unsealed exchange.
The messages concern an April 12, 2023 meeting at Lively and Ryan Reynolds’s New York apartment involving Baldoni, her director and costar in It Ends With Us. They became public on January 20, 2026. Although Swift’s name is redacted in some exhibits, Lively’s lawyers identified her as the person in the exchange.
With Baldoni still at the apartment, Lively called him “this doofus director of my movie” and asked Swift to “do me a huge favor. I need help with him.” She wanted Swift to tell him she was excited about the film and enthusiastic about pages Lively had sent.
Lively also wrote: “I’ll send you the scene. You don’t have to read of course. It’s a quick read.” She described the aim as “having the greatest living storyteller unknowingly echo to him how much you love what we’re doing, (giving him credit as if he wrote them with me).”
Swift replied: “I’ll do anything for you !!”

Afterward, Lively thanked Swift and wrote: “You making s— up about me and lenses. And referring to yourself as my doll.” She also described Baldoni as falling for it while resisting it.
Those details became part of a dispute over whether Swift had been recruited to endorse a rewrite without reading it. Baldoni’s team alleged that Lively used Swift and Reynolds to pressure him into accepting her changes. Baldoni later told Lively he liked the pages and “would have felt that way without Ryan and Taylor.”
In her July 30, 2025 deposition, Lively gave this account: “I sent Taylor the script on her way to my apartment because Justin was still there, and I asked her to read them. I told her she didn’t have to, I didn’t want her to feel pressure to do that, but I hoped that she would.”
Signore argued that the texts undermined Lively’s harassment allegations. He also had a connection to the litigation: Lively’s lawyers subpoenaed Popcorned Planet in the smear-campaign case, and a Florida federal judge rejected his company’s attempt to quash that subpoena in December 2025.
The apartment exchange alone doesn’t establish whether harassment occurred. In April 2026, a judge dismissed Lively’s sexual-harassment claims along with most of her other claims. The remaining contract and retaliation-related claims settled on May 4, 2026, without a trial finding.
Swift was never deposed. Baldoni’s side withdrew its subpoenas to her and her lawyers on May 22, 2025, and the court later allowed access to relevant messages through Lively’s document production.
