Alison Brie and Dave Franco first met at the Scream 4 auditions, and only one of them walked out with a part. Brie left with the role of Sidney Prescott’s publicist, Rebecca Walters. Franco left without a part, but the auditions were where the future couple first saw each other.

They recalled that encounter while discussing their shared love of horror with Sean Evans at the Academy’s Margaret Herrick Library during the press tour for Together. “Only one of us got the job,” Brie said. Franco didn’t reveal which role he’d tried out for.

Their romance developed after they crossed paths again at an airport in New Orleans, where they swapped numbers and arranged to spend time together.
During Mardi Gras that weekend, Brie offered Franco a beer containing Molly and told him what was in it. They partied and kissed, and their relationship continued from there.
By 2025, they were promoting Together as a real-life married couple playing spouses whose relationship is under strain. In the body-horror film, a move to the countryside brings them into contact with a supernatural force that alters their bodies and minds.
