Brad Caleb Kane on Crystal Lake’s Missing Nudity: “You Can Give the Kids the Violence, but God Forbid They See Some Breasts”

“I tried. That’s America. You can give the kids the violence, but God forbid they see some breasts. Sometimes you get overruled in these things.”

That’s Brad Caleb Kane talking about wanting to include nudity in Crystal Lake.

Every movie in the Friday the 13th franchise has nudity in it except for one. Friday the 13th Part VI: Jason Lives is the one exception to that rule.

Despite having plenty of graphic blood and violence, Crystal Lake follows the example of Jason Lives and eschews the nudity. Well, mostly.

There is one scene in episode six, “Kill Them, Mommy,” which has a few shots that would fit well, sartorially speaking, into any movie in the franchise BESIDES Jason Lives (the awesome April Consalo from ‘Cannibal Mukbang’ is in the scene I’m referencing). But otherwise, the cast is largely modest with regards to their states of dress and undress.

The nudity became a staple of the Friday the 13th movies, so that makes it something worth pointing out. That’s all.

Plus, Brad Caleb Kane has a decent point about how, when it comes to an R-rated lack of clothing or the on-screen depiction of overt violence, violence is often deemed more acceptable in mainstream media.
