Connor Wood got a reply from his celebrity crush, Jennifer Lawrence: she said she’d seen him ignore her on 8th Avenue while he drank a smoothie.
Wood, the comedian and Dancing With the Stars contestant, had been asking for one thing: a little acknowledgment from Lawrence. “I just want just a little acknowledgment from Jennifer Lawrence that I’m funny,” he said in an October 20 clip. “That’s all I need.”
Lawrence answered from her verified @jlaw account, with a comment Wood didn’t see coming: “I saw you on 8th avenue drinking a smoothie and you paid me no mind.”
His reaction got captured on camera. He went face down, then came back up with “No,” “Uh-uh, no way,” and “WHAT!” as it sank in that she’d clocked him ignoring her on the street.
Rylee Arnold, his DWTS partner, tried to soften it: Lawrence was only teasing, and she clearly knew who he was.
Wood had an explanation for the whole thing. “Yeah, that’s where I get my smoothies,” he said, before landing on the line that stuck: “Oh my gosh, I’m just always, like, staring off, you know?”
Arnold followed up on TikTok with a caption aimed right at him: “You need to pay more attention at your smoothie place @Connor Wood.”
