Dafne Keen says Hugh Jackman “made sure that no one was abusing my hours” when she filmed Logan at 11, playing Laura opposite him and remembering how he looked out for her working hours and kept on-set tensions away from her.

Speaking with Michael Rosenbaum on the November 3, 2026 episode of Inside of You, Keen said Jackman “gave me a lot of really positive reinforcement and a lot of really good advice.” She called him “the best number one you could ever wish for” and “the best on-screen dad,” describing him as feeling “like a sort of parental figure.”

Keen said that approach extended across the Logan set: “They were all really good on that set at making me really feel like a grown-up and making me really feel like a respectable artist. My opinion really felt like it mattered. If I said I thought something about a scene, people would think about it.”

There was room to goof around and be silly, too. Keen and Jackman often sang and danced between takes while he was preparing for The Greatest Showman. She’d grown up loving musicals and was a trained dancer and acrobat.

Keen had described that care in a 2023 Untitled interview, too. She remembered being scared when she started Logan, then growing comfortable with a team that made her feel at home. She described Jackman as nurturing and careful with her.

His example extended to how he treated the crew. Keen recalled that he handed out lottery tickets to the entire crew every Friday and made a point of greeting people, knowing their names and often their partners’ and kids’ names, too.
When she asked about it, he explained that actors should show appreciation for the people working behind the camera who make their work possible. She recalled him emphasizing that “the distance between cast and crew is wrong” and that everyone should be treated equally. She said she carried that lesson into later jobs and tries to make sure the crew likes her.
