Glee is getting a reboot on Disney+ and Hulu, and Ryan Murphy says he’s already spoken with around 10 original cast members about bringing it back. The return already has a script.
Disney announced the reboot on October 21, 11 years after the original series ended, with Murphy leading the project alongside original studio 20th Television.
The cast and plot haven’t been announced. Murphy said in September that he’d written a script with fellow Glee creators Brad Falchuk and Ian Brennan, who worked with him on the show’s first 2 seasons.

“They all had a lot of questions, but they were all enthusiastic about the idea,” Murphy said of his conversations with former cast members. At that point, none of them had read the script, and he said he wanted to write a couple of scripts before seeing what the cast thought.
Lea Michele, who played Rachel Berry, has expressed interest in returning. “I love Glee. I will always love Glee. I love Ryan Murphy,” she said in September.
“So, I will follow Ryan wherever he goes.” Her involvement hasn’t been confirmed.
The original Glee ran on Fox from 2009 to 2015 across 6 seasons. Set around the glee club at William McKinley High School in Lima, Ohio, it featured multiple musical performances per episode. Its ensemble included Michele, Dianna Agron, Amber Riley, Chris Colfer, Kevin McHale, Jenna Ushkowitz, Heather Morris, Matthew Morrison, Jane Lynch, Harry Shum Jr. and Darren Criss.
3 original stars have died since the show began: Cory Monteith died at 31 in 2013 from an accidental drug and alcohol overdose; Mark Salling died by suicide at 35 in 2018; and Naya Rivera died at 33 in 2020 in an accidental drowning while saving her son at Lake Piru, California.
