Hilary Swank waited until her 3rd trimester to announce she’s expecting her 3rd child, even as she continued working and spending time outside her home. The 52-year-old actress credits the small town where she grew up with helping her keep it quiet until she was ready to share it.

“I live in a very small town. It’s a town I grew up in, and everyone there has been so just respectful of my privacy and it hasn’t leaked,” she said on the Question Everything podcast.

She also kept working through much of the early pregnancy. “Clearly, I don’t stay at home all the time. I was working up until about 17 weeks pregnant, so no one really knew on set either.”

Her decision to wait didn’t come with an elaborate explanation. “I’m a pretty private person, and there was no reason to really, I don’t know, say anything,” she said.

Swank announced the pregnancy on Instagram earlier this month. She and her husband, Philip Schneider, already share twins Aya and Ohm, whom she welcomed in April 2023 at 48.

Speaking about her growing family on The Drew Barrymore Show, she said: “This was the right time for me. Not everything happens in our own time. We have ideas for timelines for ourselves, and getting pregnant isn’t always in our own timeline, right?”
