Holly Madison told Kristin Cavallari that Hugh Hefner’s girlfriends took turns having sex with him at the Playboy Mansion while the other women pretended to be sexually involved with each other, with pornography playing on large screens.

“And it was a really weird scene. And nobody liked it. And everybody tried to just get it done as fast as possible,” Madison said.

She said there wasn’t a fixed order for the girlfriends. Early in her time there, the encounters followed their twice-weekly club outings, which she recalled happening on Wednesdays and Fridays. Those regular nights out ended after filming began on The Girls Next Door, she said, describing the change as “amazing.”

Madison was 21 when she moved into the mansion in August 2001. Hefner was 75. She said the women who lived in the main house for an extended period during her time there were girlfriends; women visiting for Playboy work generally stayed in the guest house.
She also described a girlfriend acting as a recruiter, inviting other women to drink and join them upstairs. Madison said Hefner handed out Quaaludes, and she questioned whether he worried about giving a pill to someone whose alcohol or drug consumption he didn’t know.
Madison had previously described the pills in her 2015 memoir, Down the Rabbit Hole. Responding to the memoir, Hefner accused some former girlfriends of rewriting history “to stay in the spotlight.” His response didn’t specifically address the pills.
Bridget Marquardt, another former girlfriend, has described pressure to participate. She said another woman warned her she “probably won’t be invited back” if she only watched. Marquardt said she then joined what she called “a 10-second thing.”
