Producer Stuart Price has left open the possibility that songs cut from Madonna’s Confessions on a Dance Floor: Part II could still reach listeners. “You just never know, do you? The best thing about good songs is they never die,” Price said.

At least 8 songs Madonna recorded for the album were left off it. “They just find a way to present themselves at the right time,” Price added. He offered no release date or specific plan for the unused tracks.

Price acknowledged that he was being cryptic. He described Confessions as “an extended moment of time that has different elements to the performance of it,” suggesting that he and Madonna see room for the project to keep developing.

The album follows 2005’s Confessions on a Dance Floor, but Price said their focus was on taking its ideas forward. He described the original as being about dancing as freedom, while the follow-up explores confrontation, acceptance and vulnerability as strength.

“Confession is associated with shame,” Price said. “But Confessions II for us, it reframes that idea as actually power and strength and the courage to … the, you know, daring to share as well.”
