Jennifer Lawrence says she “came down hard” when crew members who weren’t approved to be present were on set while she was filming nudity. She wanted to establish a boundary that an unknown 18-year-old actress could rely on, without having to risk her reputation to enforce it.

Speaking with Alex Cooper on the October 28, 2026, episode of Call Her Daddy, Lawrence explained: “I speak up more because I’m also aware of the place that I have in the industry.” She didn’t name the production or say when the incident happened.

Her concern was what would happen to a young actress without that standing: “do I say something and get a reputation for being difficult?” The alternative, she explained, would be allowing people she wasn’t comfortable with to see her naked. Lawrence said she explained why the unapproved crew’s presence wasn’t OK.

SAG-AFTRA’s guidance requires sets involving nudity or simulated sex to be closed to people who aren’t essential, including unnecessary crew members.
Lawrence has also described the pressure she faced early in her own career. In an October 16, 2017, speech, she recalled a humiliating nude lineup and said she’d felt she “had to” accept that treatment “for my career.” She also described being labeled “difficult” for speaking up when she was younger.
