Drew Barrymore’s objection to naps got personal when she told Martha Stewart about an unnamed man who “napped all the time” and left her feeling “sick to my stomach.”
Her complaints had already surfaced in a November 6, 2023 clip from The Drew Barrymore Show. Sitting with co-host Ross Mathews, Barrymore declared, “Napping pisses me off,” and called taking a nap “the unsexiest thing.”
Mathews saw something sweet in someone getting some rest. Barrymore’s assessment: “that’s unproductive daytime craziness.” She also said, “I’ve never been able to nap in my life.”
When Stewart joined her on December 8, 2023, Barrymore asked whether she’d “date a man who didn’t work and naps all the time,” then added, “Did I say that out loud?” She acknowledged her objection was “really about him,” without identifying the man. Being in love would leave Stewart willing to date someone who occasionally naps, she said, adding that she enjoys “a cat nap in the car.”
Barrymore later offered a softer take. On September 20, 2024, she posted a TikTok using audio from her old rant with the caption, “I think I might like a power nap.”
