Hilary Duff wants to follow her comeback album, luck… or something, with a 7th record, and she’s considering a different way to keep performing, too.

“Now that I’ve cracked that part of my business back open, I don’t want it to just go away again.” — Hilary Duff

“I 100 per cent want to make a new album,” she said.

Released this year, luck… or something followed 2015’s Breathe In. Breathe Out. The new album reached No. 1 in Canada and Australia and the Top 5 in the US and UK.

Duff said her big summer touring stretch was a chance to reconnect with people who’d waited years to see her. Future shows could take the form of a residency, though she hasn’t announced one.

“I’m not sure it’s ever going to look like that again,” she said of that touring schedule.

Getting back to music took time. Duff said the prospect of failing publicly had held her back, with taking risks feeling harder as she got older and internet scrutiny adding to that fear.

She credited the security of her home life with husband Matthew Koma, the father of her 3 daughters, with helping her feel ready to try again. “I think the safety net of the family I’ve created, my husband, the partner I chose, and feeling really safe and fulfilled at home, made this feel like if it didn’t work, it didn’t matter. I never felt that before.”

Koma’s been in the music industry since he was 14, and Duff said she could bring every idea to him. “He believes in me more than I believe in myself, and he can see things I have blind spots for.”
