Liev Schreiber challenged a reporter over her approach to interviewing him at the New York City premiere of his Apple TV+ series Nocturne on October 20, telling her to “talk to people like she values what they do.”

He told her questions shouldn’t be a “f***ing soundbite.”

He said “It’s not a f-cking soundbite,” adding “especially when we’re doing it in-house.” The argument was that the interviewer should be extra excited to help promote the show as someone working for the same company. His remarks appeared to take issue with questions aimed at generating social media engagement.

“We’re trying to make this show compelling, so engage with the person.”

The conversation seemed to be productive, with Schreiber and the reporter talking animatedly for a few minutes.

Witnesses described Schreiber as passionate about the show and unhappy with the questions. They said the exchange ended amicably, with everyone leaving on good terms.
