Suki Waterhouse was writing Loveland in the months after giving birth when she tried to put a feeling she hadn’t expected into songs: motherhood had changed her sense of who she was.
“I just wanted to get out what was going on at that time because I felt very vulnerable, very raw, very unsure,” the singer and actress, 34, said.

She’d expected to return to her old self after having a baby. Instead, she described being humbled by the transformation: “The mother is birthed into an entirely new human, with a new brain, and you just become an unrecognisable person.”
Waterhouse and Robert Pattinson, 40, have a 2-year-old daughter. Now 2 and a half years into motherhood, she’s described a growing confidence in how they’re raising her while managing careers that keep them moving.

Their daughter travels on tour with Waterhouse, and the family has been changing rentals every few months. They’ve chosen their bases around being able to stay together, with hopes of settling in 1 place next year.
“It’s quite hard to make something work where you’re both doing these kinds of jobs, when you don’t live in one place and you’re travelling a lot,” Waterhouse said of her relationship with Pattinson, whom she’s been dating since 2018.
Of parenting together, she said: “I feel good about how we’re doing it and we are both just so connected to her. She’s such a wonderful, happy girl.”
