Kim Kardashian says she failed the California bar exam last year but has no plans to walk away from becoming a lawyer. She made the comments to BBC News alongside her All’s Fair co-star Naomi Watts, timed to the Ryan Murphy legal drama’s return.

She took the exam on July 29 and 30, 2025, and revealed on November 8 that she hadn’t passed. Speaking about the reaction, she said the idea that she had given up struck her as funny, and that she’ll stay quiet about her next attempt until she can say she’s passed.
“I’m not a quitter. So I know there was a lot of talk out there like she’s given up and that’s all kind of funny to me,” she said. “I like people to think what they want to think and I’ll just keep my head down and I’ll take it again and I’ll just let you guys all know once I’ve passed.”

This is a familiar long haul for her. Kardashian never attended law school, starting a San Francisco law-office apprenticeship in 2018 under California’s Law Office Study Program, which stretched to six years because of COVID and work. She passed the state’s “baby bar” in December 2021 on her fourth try, after three failures.
She’s framed the setback as temporary before. In a November 2025 post she wrote she was “still all in until I pass the bar” and there would be “no giving up.”
At the All’s Fair premiere this month she said, “I am always thinking about the bar,” but will wait “until the moment is right.” She has not named a retake date.
Her late father, Robert Kardashian, who served on O.J. Simpson’s defense team, was a lawyer. He died in 2003.
